Bluegrass Female Singers
The early days of bluegrass saw performers adhering to a strict - if unspoken - law of "men only". A few brave women challenged that rule, lighting the way for generations of female musicians to follow. It has only been in the past few decades that women have been received on their own terms, and bluegrass has grown enormously as a result. Artists like Claire Lynch, Lynn Morris, Alison Krauss and Hazel Dickens have emerged as some of the most popular, successful, and respected musicians in modern roots music.
