Mendelssohn, Fanny (1805-1847)
Sister of Felix, she was a most prolific composer. All her 400 plus pieces were published during her own life time. Her first work, a song for her father, was composed in 1816. Her early romantic style uses subtle dissonances and melodic variety. Most of her works are songs or chamber works, and these remain as popular today as they were in the Salons of Berlin.
