  Lang, Josephine (1815-1880)

German. She came from a musical family in Munich. She began to compose lieder in her teens, and continued this thoughout her life. Many of her songs achieved acclaim and were published in her own life time. Her songs set the text syllabically, achieving a wonderful clarity.
